Pansy Grimes Pait, 83, of Raleigh, NC, was welcomed by her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, May 2, 2018, in Wake Med Hospital, Raleigh, NC.
Pansy was born on the family farm in Tar Heel,NC, on March 11, 1935, to Joseph Albert and Virginia Singletary Grimes, the youngest of five children.
Predeceasing her are her parents, her sister, Grace Grimes Wilson and her husband, J.L Wilson, Jr.; a brother, J.A Grimes,Jr., and wife, Pansy Hester Grimes; a brother, Charles L. Grimes, and son, Gerald Patrick Grimes; and, a brother, David W. (Chinny) Grimes, Sr., and wife, Margaret Brock Grimes.
Pansy is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Pait Gole and husband, Gary, of Peninsula, Ohio.Loving nieces & nephews are Barbara Grimes of Pleasanton, California; Vivian Wilson of Tar Heel, NC; Sharon Grimes Baxley, and husband, Frankie of Elizabethtown, NC; Beth Grimes Martinez, and husband, Hermen of Elizabethtown, NC; Laura V. Grimes of White Lake,NC; David W. Grimes, Jr. of Tar Heel, NC; and Joseph Grimes, and wife, Jewell, of Grifton, NC.
Great- nieces & great-nephews are Tanner, Ryan, & Logan Baxley; Renee Bell & Jay Bell; Joseph Martinez; Adam & Justin Grimes; Hayley Morgan Grimes; Cindy Grimes & David W. Grimes, III; and a special great-dog, Cha Cha Grimes.
A great-great niece, Brinley Ava Mercer, gave Pansy the name of "Aunt Ponzie", to which the family has used lovingly, of late.
Possessing a fierce love for her family, Pansy loved her visits to her daughter in Ohio, their visits to her in Raleigh, & her visits "down home", seeing her family & friends from the Tar Heel area. A very independent, vibrant lady, Pansy worked at Stein Mart, after her retirement from Belk at Crabtree Mall,where she gained many new, loving customers & co-workers. Life- long friends, Nancy Moore Hinshaw & Nadine Tyner Haydon, held very special places in her heart, and, they remained in contact throughout the years. Pansy loved life & the people who made it complete for her.
Visitation with her family & friends will be on Saturday, May 5, 2018 at 10 am at Purdie United Methodist Church, 11567 Hwy 87 North, Tar Heel, NC 28392, followed by a funeral service at 11 am, handled by Bladen-Gaskins Funeral Home & Crematory. Internment beside her mother and father will follow the services in the church cemetery in Tar Heel, NC.
Flowers are welcomed, but not necessary, as all things blooming were one of her great passions, after family & friends.
