Patricia Smith

Patricia (Pat) B. Smith died September 21, 2010 at her home in Elizabethtown, NC. Her family will be receiving friends at Bladen Gaskins Funeral Home in Elizabethtown from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Thursday, September 23, 2010 A service will be held Friday, September 24, 2010 at 11:00 am at Trinity United Methodist Church. 901 West Broad Street in Elizabethtown.



Pat was born December 26, 1943 in Durham, NC to William Edward Blackwell and Annie Jones Blackwell. She graduated from Creedmoor High School and attended Elon College. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church where she served on numerous committees and was a church lay leader. She was employed with Time Warner Cable for 26 years. In retirement, she became a Real Estate Agent with Bladen Realty.



She is survived by her husband Larry J. Smith, son, Michael Shaw, daughter, Susan Jackson, step-son Larry Smith, Jr., and Step daughters Sonya Smith and Kay Smith. Grandchildren are Zachary Smith, Noah Shaw, Brandon Jackson, Skyler Shaw, Cameron Smith, Logan Jackson, Payton Jackson, and Megan Jackson. Great Aunt Lila Burns and Brothers, J.L. Blackwell, Larry Blackwell and Ricky Blackwell.

Awards and Recognition: Pat was a Paul Harris Fellow and Political Leadership Fellow.

She was the Past Chairman of Bladen Community College Board of Trustees, Member of Bladen Community College Foundation Board, Past Chairman of Bladen County Democratic Party, Past Chairmen of 7th Congressional District Democratic Party, Past President of the Elizabethtown Chamber of Commerce, and Past President of the Elizabethtown Rotary Club.
