Ransom Hayes

November 23, 1937 — August 8, 2014

Ransom Hayes, 76, of Elizabethtown passed away on Friday, August 08, 2014 at home. He was an Army veteran. Mr. Ransom retired from the NC Department of Corrections after 32 years of service. He was an active and dedicated member of the Elizabethtown Church of God for many years. He served as Clerk of the church and later became the pastor for over ten years. He loved his family and church family very much, but most of all he loved the Lord. He fought a good fight, he finished his course and he kept the faith. He is now rejoicing in heaven with his beloved Louise.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Louise Hayes, his parents, Erfie David and Daisy Bass Hayes House, brother, Ronnie Branson Hayes, half-brother, Libert Windell Hayes, Erfie David Hayes, Jr. and Wiley Gilbert Hayes, half-sister, Elmetta Hayes White and step-father, Barry House.

He is survived by one son, Jerry Hayes and wife Janice of Elizabethtown and his grandchildren, Joshua and Jordan; brothers, Erfie Hayes and wife Vickie, half-brother, Rudolph Hayes and his wife, Martha, Bernice House and wife Ann, George House and wife Nancy and James House and wife Leslie; half-sisters, Mary Evaline Hayes Matthews, Louise House and Frances Lee and husband Andy; sister-in-law, Frances Hayes.

The family will receive friends on Monday, August 11, 2014 from 2:00 until 2:45 pm at Bladen-Gaskins Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at the funeral home at 3:00 pm with Rev. Charlie Tatum and Rev. Wade Hall. Burial will follow at Elizabethtown City Cemetery.
