Raymond Pait

March 28, 1940 — October 6, 2014

Raymond Seldon Pait, Jr., age 74 of Bladenboro, died Monday, October 6, 2014 at home. He is preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Mary Alice Glover Pait; wife, Billie "Shan" Bezzette Pait; brothers, Bennie Ray Pait, and George Richard Pait, and infant sister, Mary Joyce Pait . He is survived by five sisters, Christine Doris Carroll of Bladenboro, Joan Glover Franklin of Coos Bay, OR, Shirley Rose Pait of Parkton, Alice Faye Henson of Bladenboro, and Dixie Lynn Holcomb of Fayetteville.

He was a Veteran of the US Navy. As a member of the Sons of Confedrate Veterans organization, he received the Southern Heritage Award. He was also commissioned as a Kentucky Colonel by the Governor of Kentucky. He was a FAA Small Craft Airplane pilot. He enjoyed singing and writing songs, debuting with the Louisiana Hay Ride group. He served as a volunteer Deputy Sheriff in Carlisle County, Kentucky. He retired from 33 years of service for Mead Westvaco Fine Papers of Wickliffe, Kentucky as a power house tour foreman.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 12, 2014 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Bladen-Gaskins Funeral Home. Services will be conducted on Monday, October 13, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. at Bladen-Gaskins Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Rev. DeWayne Lambeth. Burial will follow in the family cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to Salvation Army, 220 E Russell St., Fayetteville, NC 28301.
