Reverend Melvin (Tommy) Thomas Robertson, 83, of Elizabethtown, formerly of Person County, passed away on June 22, 2019 surrounded by family. He was born in Person County to the late George Melvin Robertson and Bernice Perkins Robertson. He was proceeded in death by his wife Sadie Geneva (Genny) Todd Robertson of 65+ years. Reverend Tommy is survived by his wife Zalean D. Robertson of the home, his children: Lisa Robertson Elliott (Rodney) of Creedmoor, NC; David L. Robertson (Juley) of Raeford, NC; one sister, Anita R. Suitt of Fayetteville, NC; six grandchildren: Kevin M. Jackson, Patrick Elliott (Rebecca), Seth T. Robertson, Griffen L. Robertson, Noah P. Robertson, and Addison R. Mullins, two great grandchildren: Anna-Kate Jackson, and Lucas Elliott, three step-children: Patrick Burney (Tracy), Jeffrey Burney (Lori) and Kenneth Burney.
Reverend Tommy attended Fruitland Baptist Bible Institute and graduated with an AS in Religion. He also attended Mars Hill College where he received his BA. As a pastor, he served Trinity Baptist Church in Hendersonville, NC for 3 years, Jupiter Baptist Church in Weaverville, NC for 5 years, Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Creedmoor, NC for 21 years and retired Emeritus. He also served Mill Creek Baptist Church for 7 years in Roxboro, NC and Tally Ho First Baptist Church in Stem, NC for 5 years.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Tuesday, June 25th at Bladen Gaskins Funeral Home in Elizabethtown. A funeral service will be held at 4 pm at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Creedmoor, NC on Wednesday, June 26th with a visitation following the service. Rev. Barry Chambers, Rev. David Herman and Rev. Victor Blackwell will be officiating the services. Burial will take place on Thursday, June 27th at 11 am in the Mill Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Roxboro, NC. Arrangements handled by Bladen Gaskins and Brooks &White Funeral Home in Roxboro.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Baptist Childrens' Homes of NC , PO Box 338, Thomasville, NC 27361.
Our Dad loved to farm, he loved people, and genuinely knew almost everyone on the planet, or at least it seemed to us kids. From all of us, Dad, we love and miss you.
