Richard Channing Glenn, age 79 of Elizabethtown died in his home on Friday, December 20, 2019, just 8 days shy of his 80th birthday. He is preceded in death by his parents, Dr. and Mrs. Channing Glenn; his sister, Ann G. Johnson; parents-in-law, Vernon & Christine Suggs and brother-in-law, Carl Jessup. He is survived by his wife, Tomye Suggs Glenn; son, Richard Channing Glenn, Jr (Mollie); daughter, Jennifer G. Melvin (Lin); sister, Clare G. Jessup; sister-in-law, Linda S. Puglia (Sammy); brother-in-law, Robert L. Johnson; five grandchildren, Grace-Anna Glenn, Hutchens Glenn, Caleb Andrews, Laine Melvin and Dylan Melvin; and two great grandchildren, Maddi Andrews and Kinsley McAulay.
Dicky was known for his love of family and his pride in his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren who lovingly referred to him as "Dee". He was a financial adviser and proudly served the Town of Elizabethtown. Councilman Glenn served the town for a total of 16 years, having been elected to his first term from 1999-2003 and then again from 2007 to present. Mr. Glenn was just sworn into his fifth term this month.
A visitation will be held on Monday, December 23rd from 1:00 to 2:45 p.m. in the Multi-purpose Building of Wesley's Chapel United Methodist Church, 2409 Peanut Plant Road in Elizabethtown. A memorial service will follow at 3:00 p.m. in the church sanctuary officiated by Rev. Eckie Lancaster and Rev. Darrell Copeland.
