Richard Rudolph Howell, 87, of Clarkton passed away Friday, April 1, 2022. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rufus and Rosie Howell; grandson, Craig Edwards; sisters: Anna Caulder, Edith Jackson, Alma Lee Parker; brothers: Jack Howell, David Howell.
Richard leaves behind his wife, Mary Jane Howell of the home; son, Glenn Howell and wife Melanie; four daughters: Chris Shaver and husband Sammy, Patricia Lanier and Mike White, Bonnie Edwards and husband Kenneth, Linda Dennis and husband Steve; two brothers: Billy Howell and wife Evelyn of Dunn, Charlie Howell and wife Frankie of Clarkton; sister, Martha Newsome and husband Gene of Fayetteville; grandchildren: April Smith and husband Charlie, Lindsie Shaver, Cortney Guyton, Jonathan Honeycutt, Keith Lanier, Aaron Howell, Nathan Howell and wife Morgan, Heather Pusey and husband Rudy, Kevin Edwards and wife Kimberly, Matthew Dennis (Mareena), Shane Dennis and wife Mary; great grandchildren: Andrew, Brenden, Aydan, Tyson, Cameron, Nicholas, Thaxton, Kayla (James White III), Alissa, Quinton, Kolby, Alexis, Abby, Abraham and Hagen.
Richard was a hardworking man who loved his family. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. He was a member of the Salem Pentecostal Freewill Baptist Church where he also served as a deacon for sixteen years. Richard had a heart of gold, always willing to help those in need. He will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him.
The family will receive friends from 6-8pm on Monday, April 4th at Bladen-Gaskins Funeral Home in Elizabethtown. A funeral service will be held at 3pm on Tuesday, April 5th at Salem Pentecostal Freewill Baptist Church in Clarkton with Rev. Danny Helms and Rev. Leroy Wright officiating service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
