Richard Stevens

Richard Earl Stevens, age 65 of Harrells (Bay Tree Lakes) passed away on Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at his home.



He was born in Charleston, SC on December 9, 1946 to Curtis Richard and Christine Skinner Stevens. He was preceded in death by his father. Richard was living in San Diego, CA, when he retired. After retiring he moved to North Carolina, where he has lived for the past six years.



Richard worked helping youth all his life through Scouts, Church, Adoption Agencies, and Camp E-Tik-Etu, recruiting young men for college football, mentoring, and tutoring. He spent thirty years with US Dept. of Justice - Bureau of Prisons. After retiring, he worked as a broker for his own real estate company. He was active in Rotary Club, various offices in the church and County Adoption Boards.



He is survived by his wife, Jill G. Stevens of the home; his mother, Lillie Christine Stevens; two adoptive brothers, Willie and Olin Cromartie; two sons, Keith Curtis Stevens and wife Ela of Michigan and Jorge Luis Stevens of California; three daughters, Kelly Christine Fink and husband Scott of Illinois, Mindie Mae Bowman and husband Travis of Dublin and Judy Ann Henne and husband Aaron of Murrieta, California. Fourteen grandchildren, Karrie, Crystal, Tieler, Jeremy, Annie, Rebecca, Jamison, and George Bowman, Gabriela Stevens, Cade and Braden Fink, and Shea, Kylee and Kiera Henne.



A memorial service is being planned for 1:00 PM on Saturday, October 27, 2012 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Elizabethtown.
