Robert Absher

Robert Lewis (Bobby) Absher, 87, of Elizabethtown, NC passed away on Saturday, November 11, 2017.

Mr. Absher was born and lived his entire life in Elizabethtown, but for his time serving in the US Navy. The five great passions of his life were his faith, his family, East Bladen football, Little League baseball and John Wayne movies.

Preceding him in death were his wife, Sylvia Carter Absher; parents, Harry and Jewell Absher; brother, Clayton Absher; sister: Marie Mazur; son-in-law, Terry Tolar and great-grandson, Austin Absher.

Mr. Absher is survived by two sons: Tommy Absher (Marianne) of Raleigh, Scott Absher (Ann) of Pinehurst; two daughters: Beth Tolar of Elizabethtown, and Jewell Pappendick (Dusty) of Sanford. He was blessed with five grandchildren: Rob Absher (Heather) and Hugh Absher of Raleigh, Ashley White (Michael) of Pinehurst, Libby MacInnes (Daniel) of Sanford, Keith Tolar (Afton) of Elizabethtown. Blessings continued with great-grandchildren: Auburn Absher, Mollie Tolar, Mia Thompson, and expected great-grandson Luke MacInnes.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 12, 2017 from 1-2pm in the old fellowship hall at Trinity United Methodist Church. A celebration of his life will be conducted at 2pm inside the church with burial immediately following in the Old Trinity Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church PO Box 759 Elizabethtown, NC 28337 or Lower Cape Fear Hospice and Life Care Center 206 Warrior Trail Whiteville, NC 28472.
