Robert Hickman

Robert C. Hickman, age 82 of Bladenboro died Saturday, September 03, 2011. He was preceded in death by his parents, Coy and Ada Hickman, a daughter, Barbara H. Taylor, a brother Wilton Hickman and a sister, Alma Bowman.



He was a business owner of Robert C. Hickman Insurance Agency in Bladenboro for 46 years. He also was a committed civic leader in the Bladen County community.



Robert is survived by his wife of 65 years, Marjorie Hester Hickman. He is also survived by a son, Curtis Hickman and wife Donna of Morehead City; a son-in-law, Warren Taylor of Bladenboro; one sister Margaret Buffkin of Florence, S.C.; and two grandchildren, Lawson Hickman of Charlotte, N.C. and Corey Hickman of Raleigh, N.C.



A funeral service will be held, Monday, September 5, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Bladen-Gaskins Funeral Home Chapel with visitation afterwards. A private burial will be held at Pinecrest Cemetery in Bladenboro.



In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Liberty Hospice, 46 McNeill Plaza, Whiteville N.C. or Pinecrest Cemetery Fund, Bladenboro, N.C. The family would like to give special thanks to Liberty Hospice in Whiteville, and Dr. Joseph Moore with Duke Oncology.
