Robert James Lewis Jr. “Jimmy” of Bladenboro passed away unexpectedly at home on January 10, 2024, at the age of 75. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Mildred Lewis and his sister, Jean.
He attended Mars Hill University and graduated from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke where he received a BA and MA. He was a member of the North Carolina National Guard. He graduated from Officers’ Candidate School at Fort Benning and was commander of units in Bladenboro and Elizabethtown. He joined the Army Reserves and retired as a major. He worked at Robeson Community College in many capacities but retired as director of small businesses.
He is survived by his wife Billie Faye Lewis of the home, his daughter Mary Beth Ivey (Zack) of Bladenboro and his son Robert James Lewis III (Andrea) of Lake Waccamaw. He also left two grandsons, Anthony and Austin.
Jimmy enjoyed trips to Ocracoke and the mountains. His grandsons were a great joy to him.
The family will receive friends at the home of Jimmy and Billie Faye. A private service will be held.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Boys and Girls Home of Lake Waccamaw, North Carolina or plant a tree in his memory.
