Robert "Bob" Winstead O'Briant, 84, of Bladenboro passed away on Sunday, March 25, 2018. He is preceded in death by his parents Charlie and Ethel O'Briant, two brothers: Reggie and Deryl O'Briant, one sister: Sue Frances Gardner, and one aunt: Mary (Daye) Winstead. Bob leaves behind his wife of 59 years, Anne B. O'Briant of the home, three sons: Robert W. O'Briant II (Jeana), Timothy O'Briant (Caroline), and Christopher O'Briant (Crystal), one daughter: Malinda Shirley (Lenny) and 12 grandchildren: Lenny Shirley (Caitlyn), Brian Shirley, Nathan Shirley, Kaitlyn Shirley, Hart O'Briant, Ian O'Briant, Shelby O'Briant Pope (Gabe), Ashlyn O'Briant Lucas (Kaleb), Justin O'Briant (Laura), Jessika Frazier (Scott), Preston O'Briant, Will O'Briant and nine great grandchildren.
Bob loved his family dearly. He enjoyed camping with them and annual trips to Mayberry. Bob was a proud Irish and gladly advertised it with his green hat, suspenders, pipe, green beard and t-shirt that read "Kiss Me I'm Irish". He was an outgoing individual that loved to make people laugh. Among his many titles, Bob was an Air Force veteran, a retiree of Sprint Telephone, Mason, Civil Air Patrol, private pilot, former member of Elizabethtown Rescue Squad, Optimist Club, and the Jaycees. He was also a founding member of St. Christopher's Episcopal Church in Elizabethtown.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Wednesday, March 28th at Bladen Gaskins Funeral Home in Elizabethtown. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 29th at 2 pm at St. Christopher's Episcopal Church in Elizabethtown.
