Rosa Lee Horne Watts, 69, of Clarkton, died Thursday, March 4, 2010, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice and Life Care Center in Whiteville. She was born March 5, 1940, the daughter of the late Ed and Ava Horne. She was preceded in death by her husband D.G. "Dee" Watts, a daughter, Anna Watts Barnhill, and two brothers, Homer Horne of Virginia and Ellis Horne formerly of Clarkton, and a niece Nicole Horne Jones of Lumberton.
Rosa Lee retired in 1996 to care for her husband, Dee, during his illness. Over the next few years she lovingly cared for each of her grandchildren and became a full-time babysitter. Rosa Lee attended Clarkton First Baptist Church and was an example of love and compassion to all who knew her. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, and a loving grandma to all her grandchildren.
She is survived by daughters Glenda Dove and husband, Clyde, of Bladenboro, Ava Arp and husband, Timmy, of Clarkton and son-in-law, Tim Barnhill of Clarkton; six grandchildren, Robert and Jessica Collier-Dove of Bladenboro, Dennis and Lindsey Barnhill of Clarkton, and Allison and Joshua Arp of Clarkton. Sisters, Pat Lancaster and Elsie Todd of Clarkton, Cathy Davis of Shallotte, and a brother, Jesse Horne, of Lumberton.
The family will receive friends Saturday, March 6, from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Bladen-Gaskins Funeral Home. Services will be Sunday, March 7, at 2:00 PM at Clarkton First Baptist Church with Rev. Ray Walker officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion cemetery.
