Stephen David Squires (11-1-1955 - 9-12-2017)
"A Christian man who knew he was never alone."
He believed in reverently loving GOD with all his heart, mind and spirit, and loving others as you love yourself. He boasted of nothing but his Lord Jesus. A dutiful warrior in ministry, he lovingly served his family, local community and abroad with orphans and churches in the Ukraine. He accepted others like Jesus did him - just as they are.
Stephen is survived by his beloved wife, Judy; children, Tim Lee (Lana), Robert Lee (Stephanie), Caitlin Colvin (Alex) and their families; parents David and Annette Squires; sister Lisa Gormon (Rowell), niece Marilyn and nephew Ricky; and brother Eric Squires (Cindy). Stephen was predeceased by his precious former wife, Jeannie. In his final days at home, Steve's best medicine was the laughter of his family and grandchildren, Brandon, Parker, Jackson, Tripp, Riley, Noah, Emerson, and Talley. He was close to countless relatives and friends. As he courageously battled Leukemia through Duke University, Steve was a volunteer to pioneer new treatments to help others. Helping others was his way in life with Jesus.
The funeral will be held at 12:00 pm, Friday, September 15, 2017, preceded by visitation with the family at 11:00 am, at Centerville Baptist Church, Kelly, NC. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider supporting a mission close to Steve's heart, Grace Church in Korosten, Ukraine. Donations may be made to Centerville Baptist Church Mission Fund in honor of Stephen Squires. "The ripples of your good deeds never cease in GOD's Kingdom."
