Sue Edwards

October 11, 1946 — July 2, 2010

Sue Davis Edwards of Guyton Road, Bladenboro passed away into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus on July 2, 2010. Mrs. Edwards was a loving and beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend who will be greatly missed.

She was born in Bladen County to Eldred and Alice Davis in October of 1946. She lived the majority of her life in the Oak Grove Community of Bladen County; where she was a lifelong and very active member of Oak Grove Original Freewill Baptist Church.

Sue loved working with the young people of her church, most recently as a Sunday school teacher to the younger children. In past years she was active in Girl Scouts as a leader and as an involved parent.

For many years she volunteered her time and skills to many of the organizations of West Bladen High School (also at Bladenboro High School before consolidation). She voluntarily drove the activity bus for the different groups and was known by the students as "Miss Sue". She was an avid supporter of the West Bladen Band (Bladenboro High Band), driving the activity bus for them on the majority of their band trips over the years. She worked for twenty-nine years and retired from the United States Census Bureau in 2008. For many years, up until the present time, she also drove a school bus and served as a substitute teacher.

She was predeceased by her parents, Eldred and Alice Davis; two sons, Chris Edwards and Jared Edwards; and sister, Harriet Davis Tolar.

Sue is survived by her husband, Jimmy Edwards of the home; two daughters, Jennifer Marie Edwards of Bladenboro, and Joanna Edwards Parker and husband, Keith, of Clarkton; and a daughter-in-law, Sandy Edwards of Bladenboro. She is also survived by two brothers, Joel Davis and wife, Janice of Bladenboro and Charles Davis and wife, Laura of Elizabethtown; four grandchildren, Jeremy, Justin, Kaylyn, and Jared; and many nieces and nephews.

The visitation is planned for Sunday, July 4, 2010 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Oak Grove Original Freewill Baptist Church.

The funeral will be Monday, July 5, 2010 at 10:00 am at Oak Grove Original Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Greenwood and Rev. Freddie Edwards officiating. The burial will follow the service in Bryant-Edwards Cemetery.
