Susan Powell

Susan Earl Powell, 97, of Clarkton passed away on Wednesday, October 30, 2019. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Henry Ezzell and Clara lee Packer Ezzell, her husband Johnny R. Powell, one son, Billy Tillman Powell, and three sisters: Mattie Packer, Bessie Wells and Lessie Blackmon. Susan leaves behind one son, Lewis Ray Powell of Arkansas; one daughter, Henrietta Herring of Clarkton; four grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

Susan grew up during the great depression and learned what it was like to work hard. She spent many years working in the cotton mill and then on the local blueberry farms until she was well into her 80’s. A dedicated, hardworking and loving woman who cherished her family. She enjoyed spending time with her grandkids and fishing.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:30 pm on Monday, November 4, 2019 at Clarkton City Cemetery. A graveside service will follow at 2:30 pm with Rev. Johnny Guyton officiating.
