Sylvia Dove

Sylvia Marie Brisson Dove, age 71, of Bladenboro passed away on Tuesday, February 14, 2023 at her home surrounded by family. She was born in Robeson County on September 29, 1951 to the late Paul Brisson and Marie Wilkins Brisson. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ashley Dove, son Chuck Dove, one sister, Evelyn B. Dove, and one brother-in-law Clayton Carter. Sylvia leaves behind son Scott Dove and wife Janet of Bladenboro, sisters Edna Carter of White Oak and Pauline Davis and husband Hubert of Bladenboro, three grandchildren Arlisha Tatum and husband Jimmy, Ryan Dove, and Jenna Dove and two great grandchildren, Clairebelle and Marley Tatum. She is also survived by brother-in-law Donald Dove and wife Robbie of Bladenboro.

Sylvia was a strong, thoughtful, and loving woman. She enjoyed spending time outdoors whether it be sitting on her back porch, playing with her great grandkids, or cutting the grass. More than anything she adored her family and loved being in their company. Sylvia spent many warm days gardening with her family. She also enjoyed shopping, especially at the local Dollar General and Walmart with her youngest granddaughter.

She loved meeting up with her sisters and other close family to go out to eat, some of her favorites being Mexican, Chinese or seafood.

Sylvia was a very independent woman from a young age, who dealt with her problems head on and never failed to take care of her family and loved ones. She never complained about anything in life. She was always smiling, so you rarely knew she even had a problem. Sylvia was a very empathetic and loving person who always made time for others, whether it be attending an event for them or helping them with a problem of their own. Although she was a very hard working woman, she never failed to take time to enjoy the simple things in life, such as a good cup of coffee or hours of good conversation. Sylvia will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

The family will receive friends from 2-3 pm on Friday, February 17, 2023 at the Revelation Church in Bladenboro followed by a funeral service at 3:00 pm with the Reverend Anthony Hardin officiating. Burial will follow the services in the Oak Grove Church Cemetery in Bladenboro.
