Tonia Shaw

Tonia Thompson Shaw, 70, of Harrells, NC passed away on Thursday, March 18, 2021. She is preceded in death by her parents, Hinton James Thompson and Willie Mae Prevatte Thompson, her first husband, Lewis Gattis Riggan, and nephew Jamie Thompson. Tonia leaves behind her adoring husband, John Shaw of Bay Tree Lakes, one son, Michael Shaw (Melissa) of Dunn, three daughters, Angela Riggan Shaw of Wilmington, Tammy Riggan (Estee Porter) of Wilson, and Susan Jackson (Cory) of Goldsboro, one brother, Dickie Thompson (Catherine) of Dublin, one sister, Gail Sutton (Benny) of Elizabethtown, nephew Billy Sutton of Elizabethtown, and 14 grandchildren: Christopher Sanders, Caleb Sanders, Megan Larson, Morgan Jackson, Noah Shaw, Dylan Jackson, Skyler Shaw, Brandon Jackson, Logan Jackson, Payton Jackson, Megan Jackson, Zachary Smith, Alexis Smith, and Johnathan Smith.

Tonia was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who cherished God and her family. She was a caregiver and prayer warrior. According to her kids, she jokingly was always right, and she served as a Godly example to her family and others. Tonia loved art. She enjoyed purchasing homes and turning them into something beautiful. Her passion was traveling to an abundance of places abroad. She also enjoyed playing cards with her sister and her family at gatherings. Her beautiful smile, lovingkindness, and compassionate spirit will be missed.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 23, 2021 from 1-3pm at Wesley’s Chapel Multipurpose Building in Elizabethtown. Immediately following the visitation will be a funeral service with Rev. Johnathan Hayes officiating. Burial will follow the services in Bladen Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Elizabethtown.

All attendees are asked to wear masks and practice social distancing.
