Velma Hatcher Ellis, 89, of Clarkton, NC, died Saturday, October 14, 2006.
Born January 12, 1917, in Johnston County, she was the daughter of the late Ner and Undine Hatcher. She was a member of Clarkton First Baptist Church for 60 years.
In addition to her parents Mrs. Ellis was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Burnice Ellis.
She is survived by her son Phillip Randall Ellis and wife Joyce of Chattanooga, Tenn.; daughters, Goldie E. Campbell and husband, Charles of Raleigh, NC., Judy E. Daniels of Smithfield, NC; sisters, Letha Wall and Rosie Howes both of Micro, NC., Hazel Herring of Rocky Mount, NC, and Del Jean Lee of Knoxville, Tenn; 9 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.
The visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral, from 1:00 until 1:45 p.m. at the fellowship hall of Clarkton First Baptist Church, and at other times at the home located at 234 N. Singletary Street, Clarkton, NC. The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 17, 2006 at Clarkton First Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Clarkton City Cemetery.
