Our beloved Virgil Evans Brisson departed his earthly life on Sunday November 17, 2013. Mr. Brisson was born in Bladen County, N.C. on September 10, 1932. He accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior at an early age and lived his life as a humble man and a true Christian gentleman. He was a graduate of Tar Heel High School after which he enjoyed a brief career in minor league baseball. Mr. Brisson was employeed as a Superintendant for Sanford Construction Company for 30 years, Scott Bridge Company, and finished his professional career as a bridge inspector with the South Carolina Department of Transportation. Mr. Brisson was a devoted family man and an avid golfer.
Mr. Brisson was preceeded in death by his parents, Alvin and Vandalia Brisson, brothers - Comer, Curtis, Sheldon, Vernon, and Anthony Truman (Red) Brisson, and one sister "Sis" Evelyn McCormick.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years Sarah Brisson and his children James W. Brisson and wife Meredith, Karon D. Brisson, and Marcia B. Spragins and husband, Donald, 4 grandchildren - Tiffani D. Brisson, Amanda Rose Brisson, C. Scott Spragins and wife Molly, and Anna E. Spragins and 5 great grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother, Maurice ("Boney") Brisson and one sister Audrey B. Walters and a host of beloved nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 21, 2013 at 11:00 am at Bethel Baptist Church, Dublin, NC in the fellowship hall. Funeral service will follow the visitation at 12:00 noon on Thursday with Dr. Mack Roberts officiating. Burial will follow at Allen Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Bethel Baptist Church, in Dublin N.C. or HospiceCare of the Piedmont in Greenwood, S.C.
