Wayne Kennedy

The Rev. Dr. Wayne Dewitt Kennedy was born in Edgemore, SC September 29, 1928 and died in Jacksonville, Florida on May 7, 2014. He was predeceased by his wife, Nan Frink Kennedy and will be buried beside her in Galeed Cemetery in Bladenboro, NC. He is survived by a Daughter, Karen Kennedy Heistand, her husband Robert and their two children Heather and Christopher, and by his son Ross Allan Kennedy and his wife Una. Dr. Kennedy served several Baptist churches in NC, WV, and NY, the last of which was Richardson Baptist Church in Bladenboro. He remained active in Rotary and for his work to eradicate polio with the Rotary Club, he won Rotary's highest honor, the Paul Harris Fellow award. He was an avid historian and important member of the Bladenboro Historical Society. He was an avid story teller and writer.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 25, 2014 from 2:00 until 3:45 pm at First Baptist Church of Bladenboro, services to follow at 4:00 pm with Dr. Bert Young officiating. Burial will follow at Galeed Cemetery.
