Wilkes Elkins

August 13, 1916 — December 24, 2007

Wilkes Elkins, 91, of Bladenboro, entered into eternal rest Monday, December 24, 2007.

Mr. Elkins was born in Bladen County to John and Mary Elkins. He served in the United States Army.

He was predeceased by his parents, John and Mary Elkins.

He is survived by his wife, Ada Elkins, of the home; one son, Norman Elkins of Winston Salem; two stepsons, Al Gibson of Whiteville and Billy "Tub" Gibson of Whiteville; one daughter, Claire Hodge of Fayetteville; two stepdaughters, Frances Godwin of Alaska and Linda Strickland of Whiteville; one brother, Buddy Elkins of Florida; two grandchildren, Adam Elkins and Julie Rowe; seven step-grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, Ella Nicole Elkins and Hannah Marie Elkins, and five step-great-grandchildren.

The funeral is planned for Thursday, December 27, 2007 at 2:00 PM at Galeed Baptist Church with Dr. Mac Roberts and Rev. Boyd Britt officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00-1:45 PM at Galeed Baptist Church prior to the service. Burial will follow the service in Galeed Baptist Church Cemetery.
