William Cox

William Roger Cox, 74, of Council passed away on Tuesday, August 20, 2019. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey Cox and Amanda Shearer Cox, one son, Billy Cox, one sister, Brenda Butler, and one grandson, Jackson Cox. Roger leaves behind his loving wife, Bonny Cox of the home; son, Ryan Cox (Mary) of Shallotte; one brother, Thomas Cox (Hazel) of Andrews; one grandson, Eli Cox, special nieces and nephews.

Roger was an amateur archeologist who enjoyed collecting artifacts and fishing, especially with his grandson, Eli, who he referred to as “My sweet little buddy”. He was a loving husband, father and papa that cherished his family. He enjoyed spending time in the woods, riding four wheelers, planting trees and cutting grass. His happiest moments were spent while he was working or with Eli.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Friday, August 23rd at Council Baptist Church. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am with Rev. Tommy Bryant and Rev. Jack Miller officiating. Burial will follow the services in the Carvers Creek United Methodist Church Cemetery.
