William Ellis

Bill Vance Ellis, Sr., 68, of Bladenboro, entered into eternal rest Sunday, November 9, 2008. Mr. Ellis was born in Durham County on May 16, 1940. He was the son of Theodore and Lois Tyndall Ellis.



Mr. Ellis was preceded in death by his son, Waylon Jennings Ellis; his father, Theodore Ellis; stepfather, Dock Jackson; and a brother Jimmy Baxley.



He is survived by his wife, Sarah Davis Ellis of the home; his mother, Lois Tyndall Jackson of Fayetteville; two daughters, Devonda Bridgers of Elizabethtown and Heather Bass of Bladenboro; one son, William Vance Ellis, Jr, of Springfield, MO.; four brothers, Ted Ellis of Columbia, SC, Lannie Ellis and Tommy Ellis of Fayetteville, and Pete Baxley of Wilmington; two sisters, Linda Hudson of Alabama and Betsy Massengill of Fayetteville; eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren.



The family will receive friends Tuesday, November 11, 2008 from 7:00 until 9:00 pm at Bladen-Gaskins Funeral Home of Elizabethtown.

Funeral services will held at Singletary United Methodist Church Wednesday, November 12, 2008 at 6:00 pm officiated by Rev. Patrick Sinclair. Burial will be Thursday, November 13, 2008 at 10:00 am at Sandhill State Veterans Cemetery.
