Wilma Jean Hughes Mills, 73, of Bladenboro went home to be with the Lord on Friday, January 10, 2020. She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Paul Mills, parents, Clyde and Maude Callihan Hughes and one brother, Willard Hughes. Wilma leaves behind two daughters, Paula Mills Lewis (Len) of Bladenboro; Christi Mills of Bladenboro; two brothers: Dennis Hughes of Virginia and Donnie Anderson of High Pointe; one sister, Patricia Carroll of Bladenboro; four grandchildren: Bridget Todd (Shannon), Korey Bryant (Cara), Chevy Todd and Will Todd and seven great grandchildren: Dawson Bryant, Gracie Todd, Emma Todd, Allie Todd, Cutter Todd, Julian-Paul Bryant and Aynslei Bryant.
Known to most folks as “Mema”, Wilma was a God fearing, family loving, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She cherished her husband Billy Paul and is rejoicing in heaven now with him and Jesus. Wilma was always there for everyone. She never met a stranger, loved to talk and could stitch anything; all she needed was a needle and thread. She would often be heard whistling a sweet tune. An angel at heart that has now received her much-deserved place in the choir of heaven.
The family will receive friends from 5-6 pm on Thursday, January 16, 2020 at Bladen Gaskins Funeral Home in Elizabethtown. A Celebration of Life Service will follow in the chapel at 6 pm.
