Wilson Ray Allen, 74, of Elizabethtown passed away on Friday, March 10, 2017. He was preceded in death by his parents: Wilson and Louise Allen and brother: Robert C. Allen. Ray is survived by his wife of 48 years, Virginia Hilburn Allen; daughter: Tracy Allen Hardin and husband Wilt Hardin; son: David Ray Allen and wife Tiffany Tatum Allen; six grandchildren: Natalie Rae Hardin, Ashley Nicole Hardin, Heather Graye Hardin, Tatum Rae Allen, Ava Presley Allen, Anna Kathryn Allen; sister: Ann Allen Weeks and husband Lin; brother: Dan Allen and wife Sunday; sister-in-law: Linda Jones and husband Bill and other many loved ones.
Ray graduated from Elizabethtown High School with the class of 1961. He dearly loved his wife, children, and grandchildren so much. Farming was his passion and his friends were considered high on his list. He was an easy going person, a very deep thinker, mechanically brilliant, and was loved by everyone. He served over 20 years as the President of the Bladen County Farm Bureau and served as a Farm Bureau State Board of Director. Ray was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and served on the Board of Trustees, Old Trinity Committee, and others. He also gave 25 years of service to Bladen County Soil and Water Conservation.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 11, 2017 from 5-8pm at Bladen Gaskins Funeral Home in Elizabethtown. Funeral service will be Sunday, March 12, 2017 at 3pm at Trinity United Methodist Church with Rev. Jay Winston officiating. Burial will follow service in Old Trinity Church Cemetery.
