Windell Furnie Pait began to experience eternal life on March 5, 2018 at the age of 77. He passed away in the community in which he was born, grew up, served, and worshipped. His influence reaches around the world in the lives he touched.
Windell Pait was born in Bladenboro to Clayton and Louise Guyton Pait on August 22, 1940. He married Linda Bordeaux on June 25, 1961 in Bladenboro. A bookkeeper, welder, and construction worker; his labor of love was owning and operating Cape Fear Hardware for 50 years. His ministry was his family and the people of Community Baptist Church where he was a deacon and Sunday School teacher. He loved wood working and built many pieces of furniture. He loved the outdoors spending hours doing yard work with his sidekick, a Jack-Russel terrier, Buster.
Windell was preceded in death by his parents, Clayton and Louise Pait, his sister, Jeannette Pait Brooks, a brother James E. Pait, and a son, Windell Frederick Pait.
Windell is survived by his wife of 57 years, Linda, and four children, Wanda Cummings and husband Mark of Midland, Texas, Cynthia Wiginton and husband Jim of Greenville, South Carolina, Jonathan Windell Pait and wife Annette of Greenville, South Carolina, and Suzanne Dersch and husband Stephen of Florence, South Carolina; three siblings, Levy Pait of Bladenboro, Billy Pait of Bladenboro, Jane Pait of Bladenboro, and Betty Cummings of Laredo, Texas; fourteen grand-children and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, March 9 at Bladen-Gaskins Funeral Home.
Family and friends will gather for funeral services to be held 2 p.m. Saturday, March 10th at Community Baptist Church with son Jonathan Windell Pait and his son-in-law Stephen Dursch officiating the service. Burial will follow in the Community Baptist Church cemetery. Pallbearers will be the grandsons: Aaron Cummings, brothers Chip, Paiton, Clay and Haddon Wiginton, and brothers Jonathan and Josiah Pait.
